If we go by definition and definition alone- digital art is any artistic work or practice that uses digital technology as part of the creative or presentation process, or more specifically computational art that uses and engages with digital media.
Technological advancement has brought about the rapid growth and popularity of Digital art. As a result, there has been a lot of debate and speculation about the authenticity of the art form. Some argue that because the practice is digital, the artists' involvement is reduced.
Art, specifically paintings has seen a huge shift/ transition in terms of processes that are involved to get to the final product.

However, there are digital artists on the rise that are breaking the mold- meet Clifford Bright-Abu; a digital artist who believes that It [the artform] is also a potential secondary access point to the continent and a comprehensive African experience.
Yawcliff uses surrealist mediums to project a new vision for African architecture and culture. He illustrates the craft and ingenuity of the African mind, and a future in which these concepts manifest. His intricate digital manipulations translate, emphasize and weave a delicate complex yearning to ensure the protection of lands and maintain sustainable climate action. His work places more emphasis on having a continent that is more aware of its treasure. He says digital artists like him have the capacity to form and alter the structure of the African experience.
The future of African digital art rests in marketing the power of this medium to elaborate concerns, desires and aspirations to lift the African condition.

On whether you should accept digital art, I think it all depends on what type of medium you were first exposed to, that is key. Also something that should be considered is what kind of purpose your art serves. However, there is another fine line between letting Ai do all the work and you being a visionary.
